A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury, or TBI, caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the head that can change the way your brain normally works. Concussions can also occur from a fall or a blow to the body that causes the head and brain to move quickly back and forth.
Health care professionals may describe a concussion as a “mild” brain injury because concussions are usually not life-threatening. Even so, their effects can be serious.
A new Georgia law which takes effect this year demands that the parents of every player is made aware of the possibilities and the consequences of concussions. To help with that, FCYSL has put together information and links so you can get the information you need. Click on the bold words below to get the forms mentioned.

Once the league has been made aware that a player has had a possible concussion, these forms need to be filled out. One is to make sure that the parents are aware that their child may have had a concussion and the other is for the parents to acknowledge that they are aware of it and understand the possible consequences. Coaches need to keep these forms with them, since they are the most likely to be the first person aware that a concussion may have occurred.
