It took penalty kicks for the U16 Thrashers to win the Rec Cup district round. Going down a goal against the Griffin Fusion in the final, the Thrashers came back to tie the game 1-1. With no more goals being scored during the game, it went down to penalty kicks, where they prevailed 4-2.

In round robin play, the Thrashers won their group with a 2-1 win over Cannons SC Lightning, a 3-1 win over PTC Barcelona and a 4-1 win over Cherokee Little Giants. Winning the district round puts them in the State Round this weekend in Columbus Ga.
